In honor of Virgin Islands History Month and International Women's Month, the public is invited to "Under De Cymande Tree with Queen Mary." It is an oral tradition and storytelling production at the historic Canary Mansion and is sponsored by Per Ankh Inc. and Kwanzaa365. Queen Mary was the freedom queen of the Great St. Croix Fiyahbun of 1878.
The event will be presented at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 15, at the former site of the Montessori School and the current site of Per Ankh Institute.
Featured performers will be Oceana James, cultural artist/educator; ChenziRa "Dr. Chen" Kahina; and The Neteru Ankhsamble. A donation of $15 is requested and refreshments will be for sale. Bring your lawn chairs just in case.
All proceeds are for Per Ankh's Save Our Historic Building Fund.
