Spate of Weekend Accidents Keeps St. Croix Police Busy

The Traffic Investigation Bureau on St. Croix reported several vehicular accidents over the weekend.
The Valley Mini Mart in Estate Glynn was the scene of two separate accidents caused by drunken drivers on Friday and Saturday.
At about 8:40 p.m. Friday police arrested 69-year-old Rolston Friday of Estate Glynn and charged him with driving under the influence. Friday was pulling into the parking lot of the Valley Mini Mart when apparently he lost control of his vehicle and collided into the wall of the building. No one was injured in that accident.
The next night at about 7, 55-year-old Ernesto Monell was arrested for driving under the influence after he lost control of his vehicle and also collided into the Valley Mini Mart. Police said Monell was travelling on the main road when his car veered and crashed through the glass doors of the store. No one was injured.
The Traffic Bureau also reported two pedestrians were hit by vehicles while walking on the roadway.
The first injury happened at about 9 p.m. Friday. Police said a male pedestrian walking on the side of the road near Estate Strawberry was hit by the side mirror of a passing vehicle, receiving injuries to his hand.
And at about 7:34 p.m. Saturday in the area of Plaza East, a male pedestrian was crossing the road when he was hit by a vehicle traveling west, according to police. The victim received injuries to his elbow.
Both victims were treated at the Juan Luis Hospital and released.
Investigations into these accidents are ongoing. The final determinations will be announced at the conclusion of the investigations.
