The Department of Education, in keeping with its commitment to provide professional development opportunities for its employees, will host a seminar for territorial public school paraprofessionals. It isdesigned to assist them with improving working relationships with school staff, reporting sensitive issues to teachers, and communicating knowledge effectively with students, among other topics, according to a press release from Human Resources Director for the V.I. Department of Education Karen L. Blyden.
The seminars will be held in both districts as follows:
St. Thomas-John Districton Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Palms Court Harbourview Hotel
St. Croix District on Friday, Aug. 28, at the University of Virgin Islands campus
Interested paraprofessionals are asked to sign upat the Human Resources Offices located in their respective district (1834 Kongens Gade, St. Thomas; Vitraco Mall located at Orange Grove, St. Croix). The sign-up period will be held from Monday, Aug. 10 through Monday, Aug. 24between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to the limited number of available slots, interested individuals are asked to act quickly as the selections will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis. No phone sign-ups will be allowed.
