Police on St. Thomas are asking the community to help them identify the driver of a blue compact car that struck and killed a pedestrian Friday in the vicinity of Goat Street and Hospital Gade.
According to police officials, 51-year-old Oscar George Henry was crossing the street when an unknown vehicle traveling north struck him, throwing his body more than 100 feet through the air. The driver of the vehicle neither stopped nor called for emergency assistance.
As a result of its initial investigation, the Traffic Bureau determined the vehicle was a small, blue compact car.
Police are asking the community’s assistance finding the vehicle, which has damage to the front end, hood, and possibly the windshield, as a result of the accident.
Police are asking all mechanics, body repair shops and establishments who sell windshields to be on the lookout for a vehicle fitting this description. Police are also urging neighbors to be aware of a small blue vehicle with recent damage.
Anyone with information can call the Traffic Investigation Bureau at 714-9816, police headquarters at 774-2211, emergency 911 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
