Ricardo Richards and Claude O. Markoe Elementary Schools have scheduled several educational activities in observance of American Education Week, Nov. 15 – 21, according to a press release fromSt. Croix District Superintendent Gary Molloy. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Reaching Each Child One Day at a Time.” Additionally, Ricardo Richards Elementary School will simultaneously celebrate National Children’s Book Week. The theme is “Reaching All With Books.”

Monday, Nov. 16
Claude O. Markoe students will celebrate “Choose a Book Day” as they choose favorite books from the public library system Book Mobile.
Tuesday, Nov. 17
Open house and report card distribution is scheduled at Claude O. Markoe Elementary,
8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parents are urged to pick up report cards and learn about their child’s progress.
Wednesday, Nov. 18
Ricardo Richards Elementary School“Community Involvement Day.” Students will go on several education field trips into the community.
Claude O. Markoe Elementary School Parent-Teacher-Student-Association (PTSA)meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Thursday, Nov. 19
Ricardo Richards School “Report Card Distribution and Make and Take Workshops” for parents will be ongoing throughout the day. Parents are urged to attend, pick up cards and participate in the educational workshops.
Claude O. Markoe Elementary School faculty and staff will read aloud to parents.
Friday, Nov. 19
Ricardo Richards Elementary School “Book and Character Parade Day.” Students will showcase a storybook of choice during the parade beginning around 1 p.m.
Claude O. Markoe Elementary School Parent-Teacher-Student-Association (PTSA)meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Claude O. Markoe Elementary School will honor the school’s namesake on “Mr. Claude O. Markoe Day.” Students will get the opportunity to learn about the historical and educational contributions of Claude O. Markoe.
