A student from the Yvonne Milliner-Bowsky Elementary School on St. Thomas has been chosen as the territorial winner of the V.I. Department of Education’s H1N1 PreventionElementary Poster Contest. The submission by ten-year old Khaaliq Henry, a fifth grader, was selected from among 88 students across the territory.
The poster competition was designed to promote and stimulate awareness and effectively educate elementary students of the importance of good hygiene and the effects of H1N1 Influenza. Submissions were judged on creativity, relevance to the theme, content, and quality of the presentation (layout/design). They were required to depict three or more preventative measures related to the H1N1 Influenza.
Runners up are: Dylan Gumbs, a student at the Ulla Muller Elementary School on St. Thomas and Kenya Horsford, a student at the Eulalie Rivera School on St. Croix. Selected for honorable mention is Serena Lindquist, also a student at the Yvonne Bowsky Elementary School.
