Territory’s School Personnel Will Participate in Two-Day Professional Development

Professional development activities for public school teaching professionals and other school-based personnel will take place across the territory on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 7 and 8. All school- based persons are hereby notified of the times and venues of the scheduled activities by their respective district:

St. Croix District
In the St. Croix District, all Department of Education employees are to report to the St. Croix Educational Complex from 7:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on both days. The featured theme for the two-day conference will be “Crating Connections: Collaborating to Meet the Diverse Needs of All Learners.”
This series of discussions is designed to provide attendees with valuable information to help all students with or without disabilities, including English Language Learners (ELL), successfully access and achieve in the general education curriculum, according to Maureen Moorehead, chairperson of the conference planning committee and the district coordinator of special education.
Thursday’s keynote address, “Closing the Achievement Gap in Schools,”will be delivered by Pedro Noguero, Ph.D., professor of teaching and learning, Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development at New York University. On Friday,a presentation titled “Getting to the Heart of Education: Listening to the Whole Child” will be given by Stephen R. Sroka, Ph.D., adjunct assistant professor, School of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University.
