A 45-year-old woman has been arrested for murder after what VIPD officials reported as a domestic violence dispute Sunday at the Candido Guadelupe Housing Community on St. Croix.
According to a statement released by Melody Rames, public information officer of the V.I. Police Department, police responding at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday to reports of the domestic dispute arrived at the apartment and found the body of 31-year-old Reynaldo Marin with at least one knife wound to the right side of his stomach.
Emergency medical technicians on the scene did not find any signs of life on the body.
Police arrested Marin’s companion, 45-year-old Carmen O’Neill, and charged her with the homicide domestic violence.
St. Croix District Police Chief Oakland Benta said there were eyewitnesses to the dispute, and that children were present during the incident. The V.I. Police Department Victim/Witness Advocate was assigned to assist the family, Benta said.
O’Neill was remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending her advice of rights hearing.
Sunday’s homicide is the third on St. Croix in 2010, and the fourth overall in the territory.
