Leander HenryLeander Henry, also known as "Lefty/The Carrot Cake Man," of Hannah’s Rest died on Feb. 22, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. He was 86 years old.

He is survived by his spouse, Alice Maude Wesselhoft-Henry; sons: Paul Henry and Benjamin Henry; grandchildren: Paul Henry Jr., Thema Queen Henry, Omar, Kumasi, Leander and Jason Henry, Chris, Jouvani, Michael, Donte, Shaquaya and Jaiden Henry; and great-grandchildren: Regina, Stephen, Isiah, Amarie, Amira, Jai, Jolie, Tay-Shawn, Christian, Layla and Jamar Henry. He is also survived by sister, Golda Petersen Thomas; brother, Benjamin Balfour; daughters-in-law: Lucy Rivers and Jody Henry; very special niece, Bernadette Hansen; nieces; Dorothy, Estelle and May McIntosh, Gwendolyn James, Mercedes Moorehead, Daphne-Rodriquez, Debra Andrews, Lorna Baltimore, Karen Balfour-Tutein, Dorinda Gittens, Olivia Gittens-Delgardo, Annette, Audrey and Alicia Henry; and nephews: Rufus, Dennis, Bertram, Emi Jr. and Leonard James, Samuel Gittens and Nathaniel Thomas. Other survivors include cousins and other relatives: the Dowards, McIntosh, Hansen and James, Maranda, Bascombe and Petrus families; special friends: Sharon Brown, Ilma Elcock, Tabatha Cruz, Theresa Prentice, the Friedensberg Moravian Church family, Elizabeth Hill, Roslyn Hill, Margaret St. Valle and Merle Hendersen; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2, at Friedenberg Moravian Church Viewing. Interment will follow at Frederiksted Cemetery.
