Tuesday's Bob Owens Winners: Speak the Word, Stealers and Hummers

Speak the Word ace, Sylvester McIntosh, was tough on the mound and at the plate.Tuesday night’s action in the Bob Owens Slow Pitch Softball League saw the Seaborne Stealers erupt late to beat Anchor Dive 19-16, while Speak the Word hammered the Warriors 18-7 in five innings, and the National Guard Hummers outlasted the Cartel 13-10.

Stealers 19, Anchor Dive 16
In Tuesday night’s opener a shorthanded Seaborne Stealers erupted for seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to break open a game that was tied up at 12 heading into the final inning. Anchor Dive fought back, coming up with four runs in the bottom of the inning, but came up three runs short. It was the Stealers with 19 runs on 23 hits and two errors, while Anchor Dive finished with 16 runs 14 hits and three errors.
Sam Ramos got the win on the hill for the Stealers, while Edwin Sankitts got the loss. Top batters for the winners were Owen Pimentel (3 for 4 with three home runs and 8 RBIs) and Raymond Cintron (4 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs). For Anchor Dive, Juan Burgos was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Speak the Word 18, Warriors 7
Speak the Word Ministries are finally beginning to show signs of what the league is used to seeing from them as they blasted yet another opponent Tuesday night in game two 18-7. Earlier in the season, STW had been looking more and more like a team in decline, but they now seems to righting the ship. They scored 18 runs on 20 hits and four errors, while the Warriors finished with seven runs on 10 hits and two errors. The winning pitcher was Sylvester McIntosh, and Luis Alexander got the loss. STW was led offensively by Kareem Dennis (3 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs) and McIntosh (1 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs). For the Warriors, David Pierre was 3 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, and Luis Rosado was 2 for 3 with two home runs and three RBIs.

Hummers 13, Cartel 10
In Tuesday’s nightcap the surging National Guard Hummers outlast the Cartel 13-10. They now sit in third place, continuing their march to what they hope will be the top. It was the Hummers with 13 runs on 11 hits and three errors, while the hard-luck Cartel squad finished with 10 runs on 14 hits and four errors. Roy Vialet was the winning pitcher, and James Smith pitched the loss for the Cartel. Top batters for the winners were Kai Schjang (2 for 3 with two home runs and 2 RBIs) and Cantobol Encarnacion (2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs). For the Cartel, Chad Alexander was 4 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs, and Lebeus Gittens was 2 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs.
