The human resource function is a vital contributor to the success of any organization. Individuals new to the profession or recently promoted professionals can now benefit from a workshop that covers virtually every aspect of human resources management. On St. Thomas, Fundamentals of Human Resources will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, at the UVICELL Center. On St. Croix, the workshop will be held on 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, at the Joseph A. Simpson Building, No. 23A Hospital Street in Frederiksted.
The workshop is part of a series being offered by the University of the Virgin Islands – Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (UVICELL) Center in conjunction with the American Management Association (AMA). Participants will learn the essentials of key HR functions such as implementing a results-based performance management system; writing job descriptions and specifications; developing cost-effective, competitive compensation and benefits programs; recruiting, selecting, interviewing and hiring employees in compliance with federal and state laws; and much more.
