The Government of the Virgin Islands Division of Personnel in accordance with V.I. Code Title 3, Chapter 25, Section 523, has announced testing for the rank of correction officer in the St. Thomas-St. John District, according to Director of Kenneth L. Hermon Jr. PHR.
Qualifications: completion of the 12th grade or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED); ability to qualify for a motor vehicle operator’s license; proof of United States citizenship for at least 20 years; be below the age of 46; successfully passed the Civil Service Written Examination as well as the physical agility test, the psychological exam, an oral board interview and a background check.
The sign-up period for the test is March 23 through April 9. The testing dates are April 19-23.
All interested candidates must sign-up and submit a completed application package to the respective district office by Friday, April 9. Candidates who have submitted an application prior are required to notify the Division of Personnel of any changes in mailing addresses to ensure receipt of confirmed examination notices.
Applicants who have earned a degree in the following areas are exempted from sitting for the exam but are required to meet all other established criteria for qualification: police science, fire science, criminal justice, criminology, forensic science, fire prevention, accounting, public administration or business administration.
