Joseph Emanuel Ledee was born on July 29, 1925, and slipped peacefully into eternity to meet his Maker at the age of 84 years on Tuesday, March 30. A first viewing will be held from 8-8:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, at the Davis Funeral Home. A second viewing will be held Help Church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Ledee came to the Virgin Islands from Sandy Point, St. Kitts, as a young man in 1943 to pursue life’s opportunities. He was granted those opportunities when he worked for the late Hypolite Brin and Hans Christian Petersen, both cattle farmers, and eventually with St. Thomas Diaries. With all the experience he acquired, he developed his own livestock farm with sustenance for his family and the public. He was a humble man with a strong sense of family. He worked hard all his life and instilled in his children a sense of responsibility, discipline and self respect. He had a full life and was a devoted husband and father. He was a good provider and his family wanted for nothing if it was within his means. He was loved and nothing in this life will dull the memories of "St. Kitts Joe" as he was affectionately known. May he rest in eternal peace.
He is survived by his wife, Emelda Ledee; his children: former Senator Lorraine L. Berry. Joan Mojhar, Evelyn Ledee, Esther Ledee, Winston Ledee, Gregory Ledee, Ursula Bryan, Simon Ledee and Celeste Brin; grandchildren: Roxanne Bellotti, Kurt Berry, Eileen Mathew, Charles Mojhar, Peter Mojhar, Randy Laplace, Pamela Laplace, Desiree Hawkins, Wesley Ledee, Kristy Rodriquez, Kelly Ledee, Selina Ledee, Scott Ledee, Jordan Ledee, Dillon Ledee, Connor Ledee, Crystal Bryan, Tiffany Quetel, Amy Durand, Joseph Ledee, Amanda Ledee, Joshua Ledee, Shanelle Brin and Kimberly Brin; and great -grandchildren: Max Bellotti, Anije Matthew, Jenee Matthew, Caelan Mojhar, Michelle Laplace, Kaeden Hawkins, Alexis Rodriquez, Cayla Petersen, Kiana Quetel, Khloe Rodriquez and Samiya Durand. He is also survived by step grandchildren: Susan Laplace-Schack and Kenny Laplace; step great-grandchildren: Jasmine Schack, Emily Schack and Jeremy Schack; sister, Agnes Ledee; nieces and nephews: Trevor Richardson, Kevin Richardson, Everlyn Richardson and Cherise Richardson, Adelbert Ledee, Dolena Ledee, Ashton Ledee and Ermel Ledee; great nieces and nephews: Zonelle Richardson, Kerise Richardson, Brandon Richardson and Kevin Richardson; sons-in-law: Richard L Berry, Louis Ledee, David Bryan and Albert Brin; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Ledee; as well as other family members: Lisa Berry, Randolph Laplace, Ariementhe Ledee, Gerianne Ledee and Peter Mohjar.
