Governor John P. de Jongh, Jr. invites all Virgin Islands students participating in his Fourth Annual Summer Reading Challenge to a family event that the National Park Service will host Saturday, July 14, at Fort Christiansvaern Park on St. Croix.
The Summer Reef Ranger and Junior Park Ranger Program
promoting water safety education will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Students participating in the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge can pick up books and tracking sheets at the event while enjoying food,
music, boat rides and other activities. During the event, children can
also learn about the responsibilities of Reef Rangers and Junior Rangers at Buck Island, Salt River and Fort Christiansvaern.
“Saturday’s event will bring families together in a fun and engaging afternoon of discovery and education. I encourage all students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade to spend the day learning about the natural environment and participating in the Summer Reading Challenge,” de Jongh said.
