Bernice Gifft died on Sept. 21 at her residence. She was 84 years old.
She is survived by her son, Albert Charles; daughters: Fernella Charles, Phyllis Gifft-Almestica and Berenice “Pinky” Gifft; stepdaughter, Lorraine Gifft- Vialet; adopted daughter, Monique Farrell; adopted son, Will Abramson; brother, Ralph Francis; sisters: Audrey Lewis and Aldrina Meyers; son-in-law, Keith Almestica; daughter-in-law; Antonia Charles; grandchildren: Jose and Kia Almestica, Adaney Brown, Tishelle, Alasim, Timothy, Modeki, Allyson, Lataya and Evan Charles, Nya, Aliah, Sahai, Ghenet, Kibwe, Khadijah, Daud, Rasselas, Negus Charles; great-grandchildren: Zoe Williams, Keidan and Jaire Charles, Tavon and Jodis; adopted grandchildren: Jamoi Fleming and Joshua Farrell; many nieces and nephews, and many relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a first viewing held from 7:30-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, at Davis Funeral Home. A second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, at St. Andrew’s Church. Interment will follow at Western Cemetery No. 1.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Bernice Gifft to the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute, 9048 Sugar Estate, St. Thomas, VI 00802.
