Director Kenneth L. Hermon Jr. informs the general public of amendments to the Division of Personnel’s recruitment policy regarding recruitment of law enforcement personnel effective June 10, 2013, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Division of Personnel
The recruitment policy has been amended to include new criteria that will allow candidates to be waived from sitting the written examination. The new criteria is as follows:
• All degrees (associate, bachelors, masters level) from accredited institutions will now be accepted in addition to the degrees currently being accepted, which include police science, fire science, criminal justice, criminology, forensic science, fire prevention, accounting, public administration and/or business administration; however, all accredited non-related degrees will require legitimate proof of completion via official transcript.
• All military veterans who served full military service with a honorable or general discharge listed on their DD214.
Note: Candidates are still required to meet all other established criteria for qualification.
Director Hermon said, “This change is necessary to alleviate traditional barriers and is in support of President Obama’s initiative to extend job offers to our military veterans.”
All interested candidates must submit a completed application package including all required documentation to the Division of Personnel district office located at GERS Complex, 3rd Floor, Kronprindsens Gade, St. Thomas or 3009 Orange Grove Shopping Center, Bay No. 6, Christiansted, St. Croix.
