Five Percent Early Payment Discount Extended Through August 30

0

The five percent early payment discount for the 2012 property tax bill has been extended until Friday, Aug. 30, in hopes that more property owners will capitalize on this opportunity to save; therefore, the 2.5 percent discount will no longer be offered for this property tax year, according to a press release issued on Monday by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
Lt. Gov. Gregory R. Francis first implemented the early payment discount with the issuance of the 2008 tax bills in consideration of the economic challenges faced by many throughout the territory. Since then, the discount has proven a popular incentive to many Virgin Islands property owners who appreciate the opportunity to save money by paying their taxes early.
“I appreciate all who have come forward to pay their bills thus far and hope that this early notification of the five percent extension allows more property owners to plan to take advantage of this opportunity to save,” said the lieutenant governor.
V.I. property owners are reminded that they can pay their 2012 property tax bills even if they have not yet received the bill in the mail. Payments for the 2012 property taxes and all past due years can be paid at the Tax Collector’s Offices at the following locations:
St. John: Islandia Building
St. Thomas: Builders Emporium
St. Croix: 1105 King Street (Government House, Christiansted)
1131 King Street, Suite No. 101 (Christiansted)
4008 Estate Diamond (Department of Finance, Sunny Isles)
Lagoon Street Commercial Building No. 1 (Frederiksted)
