Quashira McIntosh Takes Rhode Island High School Titles

Quashira McIntosh (center) competing at Rhode Island State Championships The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation (VITFF) has announced that Quashira McIntosh, an 11th grader at Good Hope High School — a member of the 2013 V.I. CARIFTA National Junior Team and qualifier for the IAAF World Youth Championships in 2013 — continues to progress on the high school circuit in Providence, Rhode Island. Last week, she won Rhode Island State Championship titles in the 55m, 200m, 300m, 4 x 200m relay and third in the 4 x 400m relay. She is one of the highly-ranked high school sprinters in the U.S.A. and has great promise.
In addition to her state indoor championship titles, she has had stellar performances in the New England Indoor Championships and other regional competitions. She is one of four V.I. National Junior Track and Field Team members who qualified for the IAAF World Youth Championships held in the Ukraine last year. But McIntosh did not compete because of a death in the family. She and other top V.I. National Junior Team members are scheduled to compete in the CARIFTA Junior Championships in Martinique in April, with hopes of qualifying for the IAAF World Junior Championships and the 2nd Youth Olympic Games, both to be held this summer.
