BERRY POSTPONES FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING

0

Sen. Lorraine L. Berry has agreed to postpone Tuesday's Finance Committee meeting at the request of Gov. Charles W. Turnbull. Berry had called for the meeting to clarify issues discussed in the governor's State of the Territory Address.
The committee meeting will be held instead on Tuesday, Feb. 1.
Berry wants answers about the government’s recent $300 million bond issue, funding currently allotted to departments and agencies, account balance in the Transportation Road Fund, personnel actions and the estimated cost of bringing unions up to step.
Turnbull asked Berry to postpone the meeting due to key people being ill or off-island.
Berry had asked for Rudolph Krigger Sr., the governor’s assistant for fiscal policy; Ira Mills, director of the Office of Management and Budget; Claudette Farrington, director of the Internal Revenue Bureau; Bernice Turnbull, commissioner of Finance; Amadeo Francis, director of the Public Finance Authority; Keith Richards, Capital Improvements director; and Lawrence Bryan, Government Employees Service Commission administrator all to provide testimony at the meeting.
In her response to the governor Berry said, "I deeply appreciate the tone of your letter indicating your desire to see that key members of the fiscal team are present and fully prepared to submit comprehensive reports necessary to respond to the numerous questions I have put to them."
