Home Arts-Entertainment Showcase HUMANE SOCIETY VALENTINE'S BALL IS FEB. 12

The St. Thomas Humane Society's annual Valentine's Ball, also known affectionately as "the doggie ball," has yet another designation this year — the Millennium Ball. Set for Saturday, Feb. 12, at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef Beach Resort, it will feature music by the Starlites, door and raffle prizes, and a silent auction.
Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society, which continues to provide a variety of community services despite being chronically underfunded, especially when the government fails to meet its vendor payment obligations for services rendered. It is best-known for the operation of the animal shelter and adoption center in Nadir, an affordable pet neuter-spay program and its weekly Sunday flea market.
Tickets for the ball are $100, which includes a sit-down dinner (you get to specify chicken, fish or vegetarian entree when you make your purchase). They're being sold at the animal shelter, Home Again, Jan-Michael's Hair Studio, Soft Touch Boutique, The Leather Shop, Dr. Andrew Williamson's new animal hospital in Frenchman's Bay, and Imperial Animal Hospital. Cocktails are at 7 p.m., followed by dinner at 8 and, after that, dancing until.
