WAPA RATIONING WATER ON ST. JOHN

0

Feb. 8, 2002 — The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority announced Friday evening it will rationing water on St. John this weekend.
Earlier in the day , WAPA personnel repaired a leak that had greatly reduced seawater intake to the Israeli Desalinazation Engineering (IDE) and reverse osmosis supplemental water production plant. As a result, water storage fell below acceptable levels and a rationing schedule was put into effect.
Potable water will be available for customers from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 3 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the weekend. The standpipe will be open Saturday morning until 11 a.m.
WAPA expects to have potable water service normalized by Monday, according to a press release from the authority.
