WAPA ACCEPTING STREET LIGHTING REQUESTS

0

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) has recently been assigned the responsibility for the installation, operation and maintenance of street and area lights (recreation and highway lights are not included). In order to provide a quality service, a start up period of 5 – 6 months after receipt of funds will be required. WAPA expects to have this business operational after July 1, 2002. Until such time, WAPA will be accepting requests for the repair and installation of street and area lights and will address them on a priority basis after July 1, 2002.
If you have a street or area light concern, please contact the Customer Services Division at:
St. Croix 773-2250
St. Thomas/St. John 774-3552 ext. 0
Monday – Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

WAPA will endeavor to furnish continuous night-time or streetlight illumination. Because of a number of factors beyond its control, WAPA does not guarantee or warrant uninterrupted night time service along each and every public street and road or the adequacy of its streetlights or illumination, and is not liable for any damage which the customer or any member of the public may sustain by reason of the failure or partial failure of WAPA to provide such service, whether such failure is caused by accident, repairs or other causes.
Because of a number of factors beyond its control, WAPA is not liable for damage that may be incurred by the location of its streetlights or the absence of such lights, nor is the Authority liable for damage that may be incurred due to the presence of WAPA's property on the customer's premises. The customer is responsible for procuring area lights or illumination to supplement that provided by WAPA.
