SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GERS MEMBERS' DEPENDENTS

March 1, 2002 – The Government Employees Retirement System (GERS) is offering scholarships to members' dependents, for the fifth year.
The scholarships provide tuition support for four years, for students enrolled full-time in a program leading to the award of a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university.
Candidates for scholarships will be selected from qualifying graduates of the territory's high schools. Two finalists will be selected from each island, St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix. Up to three scholarships may be awarded.
To be eligible to apply, a student must be the child, step-child or legal dependent of a contributing member of GERS, be a graduating senior of a high school in the territory, and have a grade point average of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. All nominees must show financial need.
Completed applications must be postmarked no later than April 12, 2002. Applications are available on St. Thomas at the GERS Complex, 3rd Floor, Veterans Drive, St. Thomas 00802 and on St. Croix at the GERS Complex, #3005 Orange Grove, Lot 5, Christiansted, St. Croix 00820-4313; or by telephone at the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands at 774-6031.
The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI) is responsible for the administration of the GERS Scholarship Awards for the year 2002.
