0

March 19, 2003 – The lieutenant governor on Monday presented welcoming remarks at a symposium of investment managers visiting St. Croix from across the United States. Hosted in partnership with Global Capital Advisors, Deloitte and Touche, the 25th Legislature, the Economic Development Authority, and the Lieutenant Governor's Office, the symposium was designed to attract businesses to St. Croix to help stimulate the economy.
Several local government agencies presented an overview of legal, accounting and tax issues in the territory, as well as information on the logistics of relocating companies to the island. Lieutenant Governor Vargrave Richards said he viewed the symposium as an opportunity to "showcase St. Croix as an attractive destination with exceptional tax benefits and other residential incentives."
"Groups and companies such as t hose present at the symposium become partners in the process of economic development," Richards said. "As good corporate citizens and/or residents, they help St. Croix create jobs and minimize harsh economic realities.
"It is imperative that St. Croix and the territory demonstrate that we are business friendly and an ideal location given our EDC benefits," Richards said.
