CAHS CLASSES CANCELED DUE TO TEACHER'S FUNERAL

0

March 20, 2003 – Charlotte Amalie High School students have been given Friday off because of the morning funeral of a faculty member.
The service for Charles Jones, auto mechanics instructor, is at 10 a.m. at Christ Church Methodist.
A release from the Education Department distributed Thursday afternoon quoted Superintendent William Frett as saying: "As a large number of faculty and staff have expressed their intent to attend the funeral services and bid farewell to Mr. Jones, we thought it prudent to cancel classes due to the lack of available staff to provide student control and supervision."
Further, Frett said, "Safety is the order of the day when dealing with the children of this territory."
The release did not state whether the school day would be made up at a later time.
