SYNAGOGUE AUCTION SET FOR FEB. 1 AT UVI CENTER

0

Dec. 21, 2003 – The Hebrew Congregation of St. Thomas will hold its 5th annual Antiques, Art and Collectibles Auction on Feb. 1, and for the second year the event will take place at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center.
"It's a great space, perfect for our auction," Katina Coulianos, congregation president, said. "We're delighted to be returning."
The timing proved a success, too, and she said the organizers hope to hold the event on the first Sunday in February from now on.
Proceeds from the auction go to maintain the congregation's 170-year-old synagogue building and to keep it open to the public. The structure, located in downtown Charlotte Amalie on what is commonly called Synagogue Hill, has been designated a National Historic Landmark and in recent years has undergone extensive restoration.
More information on the auction is available at the St. Thomas Synagogue Web site. The site is updated regularly with the latest information about and photos of auction items and details about the auction weekend.
The Hebrew Congregation is still accepting donations of furniture and collectibles for the auction and sale tables. Donations are tax-deductible. For more information, e-mail to the Hebrew Congregation or call 774-4312 .
