DPNR Announces Commercial Fishermen Registration

Commercial fishermen registration for 2004-2005 will be conducted as follows:
• St. Thomas – Monday, July 12, to Friday, July 16 , at the Division of Environmental Enforcement Office, Cyril E. King Airport, Terminal Building, 2nd floor from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• St. Croix – Monday, July 12, to Friday, July 16, at the Division of Environmental Enforcement, 6003 Estate Anna's Hope, Christiansted (just west of the Department of Public Works complex) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• St. John – Thursday, July 22, at the DPNR Office (next to Julius Sprauve School Industrial Arts classroom) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Commissioner Dean C. Plaskett, of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, said in a press release that fishermen may also renew their boat registrations.
Commercial fishermen registering during the 2004-2005 fishing year must have their 2003-2004 catch reports submitted to be eligible to renew the permit.
Commissioner Plaskett emphasized that only renewals of permits will be issued. The moratorium on issuing new fishing permits is still in effect.
After July 16, fishermen may register with the Division of Fish and Wildlife weekly on Mondays from 8 a.m. to noon at its St. Croix office at 45 Mars Hill, Frederiksted, and at its St. Thomas office at 6291 Estate Nazareth #101, Red Hook.
