July 12, 2004 – The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued today has these announcements:

STARfest Featured Each Monday on WTJX-TV
The Virgin Islands' best singers and dancers are being featured each Monday in STARfest on WTJX Public Television. The program includes highlights from past STARfests and airs at 8 p.m. It is offered in collaboration with UVI's Reichhold Center for the Arts.
Caribbean Food Crops Meeting Expected to Draw 150 Agriculturists to St. John
The 40th annual Caribbean Food Crops Society Meeting will be held on St John from July 19 to 23. Kwame García, director of UVI's Cooperative Extension Service, is the current CFCS president. One hundred and fifty agriculturists representing 22 countries are expected to attend the session. Agricultural issues that affect the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Caribbean region will be on the agenda. A full News Release is available on the UVI web site or at this direct link. Final Seminar in "Dollars and Sense" Series Scheduled July 19
The last of a series of "Dollars and Sense" seminars offered by the New Image Foundation and the UVI Small Business Development Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, July 19, at the SBDC Training Facility at Nisky Center on St. Thomas. The presenter will be attorney Linda Baxter, P.C. She will address the topic of estate planning and will cover wills, deeds and trusts. The registration fee is $10. It is free to New Image graduates, and to UVI students and faculty. To register, call 777-8883.
Participants Sought for "Eye on UVI" Radio Program
Dr. Alex Randall, "The Good News Guy" on WSTA Radio (AM-1340), invites UVI departments, offices and units to participate in his "Eye on UVI" radio programs that are broadcast from 10 to 11 a.m. each Wednesday and Friday. Members of the UVI community who wish to have their programs highlighted on "Eye on UVI" should contact the public relations office at 693-1056. Dr. Randall is particularly interested in student research, community outreach efforts and student accomplishments.
Contestants Sought for Miss UVI 2004-2005; Competition Set Oct. 30
UVI is recruiting female students interested in participating in the Miss UVI 2004-2005 competition. Miss UVI serves as a student ambassador for the university and receives several valuable prizes including a scholarship covering tuition, and room and board for two semesters. The deadline to apply is Monday, Aug. 30. The competition is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 30, at UVI's Reichhold Center for the Arts.
