Sprauve Library Friends Donate 'Outstanding Books'

0

July 18, 2004 – St. John college-bound young people and lifelong learners have a big advantage waiting on the shelves of the Elaine I. Sprauve Library: The Friends group recently donated 125 books from the American Library Association's "2004 Outstanding Books for the College Bound and Lifelong Learners" list.
Updated every five years, the list is organized into five academic disciplines: history, humanities, literature and language arts, science and technology, and social sciences. The works include fiction, nonfiction, poetry, biography and drama. The list is issued as a publication for several audiences: students preparing for college, educators, librarians and parents. It provides guidance for independent reading and lifelong learning.
The Friends of the Elaine I. Sprauve Library have provided 125 of the list's books for St. John library users to choose from in their individual quests, whether they be college-bound high school students, librarians selecting materials for their libraries, empty-nest parents who now can read the books they've always wanted to, or others.
