Advisory Issued for Hodge Pavilion Sewage Leak

0

July 23, 2004 – The latest instance of sewage flowing from a manhole on St. Croix was reported Friday afternoon by the Planning and Natural Resources Department.
The location of the reported overflow was described in a release as a manhole in the Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion located "on the western shoulder of the street west of Building No. 1," with the sewage flowing "into the nearby bushes."
The department's Environmental Protection Division was investigating the matter as of Friday and "will continue to monitor the impacted area," the release stated.
The release contained no further details except for the standard warning that "standing or running water in the above area may contain contaminants or pollutants harmful to human health" and an advisory to the public to "avoid the areas around the sewage overflow, especially children and adults with compromised immune systems."
The Environmental Protection Division number given to call for additional information is 773-1082.
