E.A.S.T. Deserves the Community's Support

Aaron Reiff's excellent article demonstrated once again the problem of landowners cutting off historic access to local beaches, but the armed guard angle certainly does make this case unique. When the only beaches locals can access are "public" places such as Magens (and then only after paying the entry fee), St. Thomas will lose much of its charm for both tourists and residents. What kind of an image are we presenting when razor wire and 24 hour armed guards protect the "compounds" of wealthy landowners? EAST and other organizations involved in these issues deserve our unqualified support.
