Mugar Taps K. Lyons to Handle Public Relations

Aug. 13, 2004 – St. John resident Kim Lyons' public relations firm, K. Lyons and Co., has added another client to its growing list — Boston-based Mugar Enterprises.
Mugar Enterprises holds ownership in the Marketplace shopping center and Starfish Market on St. John as well as shopping centers, a large regional shopping mall, a full-service hotel, an assisted-living complex, commercial office space and numerous industrial facilities in New England.
Lyons, who opened K. Lyons in January, has an extensive background in public relations, advertising and marketing. After eight years as Tourism Department account executive with Greengage Associates, she served for a year as assistant Tourism commissioner in the Schneider administration, ran a St. John restaurant called the Purple Door and spent a year as business and public affairs director for AT&T of the Virgin Islands. After that, she worked for a year and a half as development director for the Friends of the V.I. National Park.
Lyons has "a wealth of information and knowledge along with years of experience in the public and private sectors," David Mugar, chair and chief executive office of Mugar Enterprises, said in a release.
He said he anticipates that Lyons, as his "point person and community liaison" will "substantially enhance Mugar Enterprises' community and business initiatives" and keep him up to date about projects and concerns of the St. John community "when I cannot be on-island."
