Thank You, Volunteers, for Children's Village

0

Dear Source,
The 2004 St. John Children's Carnival Village, an event sponsored by the St. John Community Foundation which gives children a safe and drug-free play environment during St. John Fourth of July Celebration, was a grand success! So many children and parents played our games and had great fun. They had their faces painted, made masks, ate popcorn and snow cones and redeemed the coins they won for lots of prizes. The children were enthusiastic, polite and helpful; it was a pleasure to hold this event for them.
The all-volunteer crew of workers was terrific. We want to thank all of the people who made this Village possible including our major contributors:
General Manager Graeme Davis of the Westin St. John, David Carlson of Carlson Construction, St. John Ice Company, Baker, Magras and Associates, St. John Kids, St. John Accommodations Council, St. John Hardware, Ira Wade and Public Works, St. John Rotary, Andrew Barlas of ABC Construction, and the St. John Yacht Club.
Other financial and service contributors were Joanna & Karen of Stone Cottage, Cruz Bay Realty, Inc., Viva Villas, Inc., Carefree Getaways, American Paradise Real Estate, Laurie VanKuren of Today's Flowers, Cooper & Associates Waste Management Corp, Hatsumama, Carlos Diblasi of Morgan's Mango, The Fish Trap Restaurant, Raintree Business Services, Barbara and Costello of Freebird, Jessica DeVries of Palm Jewelers, Chris Angel of Angel's Electric, Lime Inn, B & G Enterprises, Town & Country Realty, Simple Feast, Starfish Market, the Lime Inn, Nature's Nook, Oscar's Convenience Store, Skinny Legs, Cap's Place, W & W Fast Food, Dolphin Market, Monsanto Water Company, Gym in Paradise and LeBleu Water.
This event could not have taken place without the hard work of our Carnival Committee. Lori Barlas and Martha Hills are especially angels-in-people-clothing — we would have been lost without them. Carole De Senne, our executive director, was essential to the Village's success. These volunteers' efforts were incredible! Special thank yous to Lori's mother, Isabel Smith, Jacqueline Dennis, and Susie Christy for all the effort they gave and the love they showed for the children.
