Midland Road Closed to Through Traffic

0

August 14, 2004 – Residents of Estate Glynn, Estate Mon Bijou, Estate Calquehoun and Coble Village might find traffic difficult over the next 10 months, but they will always have access to their homes.
According to a press release from Commissioner Wayne D. Callwood, Department of Public Works, the Midland Road Project has begun. Construction on the project is expected to take 270 days, with completion slated for April 29, 2005.
The project starts at the intersection of Route 75 and 72 and terminates at the entrance to Coble Village. Motorists who normally use that road to go beyond the project limits are urged to use alternate routes. Through traffic will not be permitted to use that road during construction.
The release states, "Motorists are asked to be considerate and understand that there will be inconveniences as the project progresses."
A public meeting will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the John Woodson Junior High School to explain the project in detail and address concerns.
Questions regarding the project should be directed to the Deputy Commissioner of Engineering for the Department of Public Works Aloy Nielsen or John Paul David, construction program manager, at 773-1290.
