Police, Teen Group Announce Back to School Jam

August 15, 2004 – The Grove Place Weed and Seed's Teen Youth Group will be holding a Back to School Jam in conjunction with the Office of the Territorial Police Chief on Friday, Aug. 20. from 7 p.m. to midnight. The jam will be held at the New Drive-Inn in Estate Grove Place.
Tickets may be purchased in advance from members of the Teen Youth Group at the Office next the Grove Place Fire Station for $7 or at the door for $10. All proceeds will be utilized by the Youth Group for programs and activities throughout the year.
Additionally, Territorial Chief Novelle Francis advises parents of minors, who may be attending the Teen Jam to make sure arrangements are in place to pick-up children after the event.
The V. I. Code states "no person under the age of 18-vears shall be on the public roads of the Virgin Islands after 10 p.m. without being accompanied by a parent or guardian or the adult responsible for the care of the minor."
In a press release, Francis added, "Please make sure transportation is available for you minor child. If no one is there to transport the child home they may be held at the New Drive Inn until the parent or guardian arrives to take the minor child home. Emergency transportation will be provided by the staff of the Weed and Seed Office. However, please pick up your child as early as possible to avoid problems that may arise."
