Rotary Flavors Presented on St. John

Oct. 20, 2004 – If you're looking for a chance to dress up in your island fancy duds, buy a ticket for the Rotary Club of St. John's Flavors of St. John.
The event, Nov. 13, at the Westin Resort and Villas, begins with a cocktail hour at 6:30 p.m. under the tents near the beach. Numerous St. John restaurants will serve tasting portions of their signature dishes at 7:30 p.m.
"You'll be treated to samples of the best food on St. John," Chris Angel, rotary president, promised.
The evening also includes dancing to the music of Cool Sessions Brass and an auction. Angel said items to be auctioned off include a handcrafted entertainment armoire worth $7,000, artwork and a trip.
A special ferry will run from Red Hook, St. Thomas, direct to the Westin. It leaves Red Hook at 6 p.m. and departs the Westin at 11 p.m.
Tickets run $100 per person. They're available at Connections, Kaleidoscope Video Rentals in the Marketplace shopping center, K2 Video Rentals in Coral Bay, and from any Rotarian.
The event raises money for the Rotary's various activities, including programs at Julius E. Sprauve School, the Animal Care Center and Kids and the Sea. Additionally, the money raised helps to fund scholarships to the University of the Virgin Islands and the implementation of a learn-to-swim program.
