Accreditation Team Arrives at Eudora Kean

Nov. 15, 2004 – A 10-member verification team from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools arrived for a final inspection of the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Monday. The school's principal said formal opening ceremonies began late Monday afternoon.
Principal Sharon McCollum Rogers said she was asked by the inspection team to refrain from making public comments while the school was being reviewed. However, the principal thanked the community for its support and well wishes going into the final phase.
"We feel very good about it. We're positive and looking forward to the team visit and all the things that will be taking place this week," she said.
She also noted that although the formal inspection had not begun Monday, two of the Middle States inspectors had already spent time on the high school campus.
Kean High is the second V.I. high school to make it to the final inspection by Middle States. The Charlotte Amalie High School received a team visit last month. But Kean High had to work harder because the school was initially turned down for candidacy by Middle States when CAHS and the two St. Croix high schools — Central High and the St. Croix Educational Complex — won their chance to vie for accreditation.
The two St. Croix schools are set for inspection early next year. If the Educational Complex is granted accreditation, it will be its first designation. The other three high schools are vying for reaccreditation.
