Chamber Has Million-Dollar Golf Shootout

Dec. 1, 2004 – The St. Thomas/ St. John Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Million Dollar Shootout Golf Tournament on Dec. 5 at Mahogany Run Golf Course. The tournament begins with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. Golfers all receive a treasure bag loaded with goodies, a shirt and cap. The four member Team Scramble Shotgun will start promptly at 9 a.m.
According to Chamber Committee Chairperson, Ted Bast "the Chamber is pleased to offer $20,000 prizes for a hole in one at holes 4, 8, 11, 14 and 16. Prizes include: $20,000 Shopping Sprees, $20,000 cash, and a $20,000 car. The golfers closest to the pin on each par three returns at the end of the tournament to shoot for a million-dollar annuity on hole number nine."
Additionally, Bast said, "We have added a new feature to this year's Million Dollar Shoot-Out, the one player out of the five that is closest to the pin in the shootout will have the opportunity to putt from 50 feet for a cash prize of $2500. Hole-in-one's do happen, at least 15 golfers achieved hole-in-ones this year at Mahogany Run Golf Course."
Bast added that in addition to all of the fun on the course, players will be treated to a buffet luncheon; trophies and gift certificates will be awarded to the top five teams aa well as to the men's and women's longest drive.
