Dear Source:
On behalf of the Investor Physicians of the St. Thomas Ambulatory Surgical Center ( the St. Thomas ASC ) I would like to express our elation for the people of the Virgin Islands. Our government officials and a group of our peers have given the St. Thomas ASC an opportunity to provide an on-island CHOICE in healthcare which is sorely needed in the Territory. We are determined to make the people of the Territory proud of your Ambulatory Surgical Center which will be a shining example of outpatient care in the Caribbean.
In the past ten years we have witnessed a vast improvement in the pool of highly skilled surgeons and anesthesiologists in our islands. The types and complexity of surgical cases successfully performed here is astounding and getting better every day. We are indeed fortunate that these capable surgeons and anesthesiologists have chosen to make the VI their home, as they would be stars anywhere.
We have a responsibility to provide our community, with the best, the most efficient, and the most courteous outpatient care available .right here at home. This is the mission of the St. Thomas ASC.
Working together with the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital, we can build a healthcare campus of the Hospital, Cancer Center, Medical Office complexes, and the ASC. This campus can and will become the nucleus of advanced healthcare in the region.
It is also the goal of our project to help educate nurses and administrators, as well as to cultivate a new financial sector of the VI economy-Health Tourism-by attracting people to the Territory for healthcare services. It is also our hope to help stem the outflow of residents to other areas for healthcare treatment and the resulting outflow of revenue from the Territory.
Many thanks go to our supporters through this long effort to get to the starting point for the project.
Most notably: June Archibald, Dr. Egnatinsky, Dr. Roy L. Schneider, Sen. Douglas Canton, Mr. E.W. Smith, our loyal patients, The Bornn Firm, Mackay & Hodge, LLC, Commissioner Darlene Carty, and the Members of the Ad Hoc Review Committee and most of all, God Almighty through whom all things are possible.
And most of all .congratulations and thanks to the Community whose interests and needs have prevailed.
Sincerely,

Byron W. Biscoe, M.D.
