Dec. 6, 2004 – Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Caribbean Community Theatre is beginning preparations for its production of the 2nd show of CCT’’s 2004-2005 season with auditions for The Full Monty, and is calling for male and female actors and singers ages 16 and up. Audition dates are Dec. 8, 9 and 10; Wednesday through Friday, at 7 p.m.at the new Caribbean Community Theatre at #18 Estate Orange Grove, behind the Golden Rock Shopping Center, between St. Croix Insurance and Long Reef Condos (on the road between the Easterly Building and Paradise Gym).
The Full Monty, directed by David Richards, is a "naughty" musical comedy. Seeing how much their wives enjoy watching male strippers during their "girls" night out," unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, New York come up with a bold way to make some quick cash. In the process, they find renewed self-esteem, the importance of friendship and the ability to have fun.
"Guys, are you willing to grin and (ahem) bare it? Actually, we let some of the guys keep on their britches! Girls, you get to laugh and have a good time watching these "hunks!"
Critics had this to say about the Broadway production:
The New York Times: "Memory-grabbing melodies and outlandish lyrics……"
New York Post: "It's a blockbuster! David Yazbek's music and lyrics work like a charm."
Performance dates are January 28 – February 12, 2005.
The project is jointly supported by a grant from the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, DC, a federal agency. For information call 778-1983.
