Cellist Arthur Fiacco and Kent Tritle, organist, will return to the St. Thomas Reformed Church, where they will be presented in an evening of music for cello and organ this Friday, January 7, at 8:00 pm. This exceptional duo has recently toured the Netherlands together receiving enthusiastic critical acclaim. Individually, both artists have flourishing careers in the New York musical scene.
Arthur Fiacco is a member of the Orchestra of St. Luke's, an elite group which specializes in music written prior to 1900. Fiacco also enjoys an active recording career, with releases to his credit on RCA, SONY, EMI, AMDG, ECM and Newport Classics labels. A musician of remarkable versatility, he often tours with singers and chamber groups and has been seen having great fun in the orchestra pits of Broadway shows on many occasions.
Kent Tritle serves on the faculty of the Juilliard School, is principal organist of the New York Philharmonic and American Symphony Orchestra, as well as being director of music at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, New York. In great demand as a conductor as well as organist, Tritle has been seen on the podiums of Avery Fisher, Alice Tully and Carnegie Halls many times. His contributions to the Mostly Mozart Festival have become awaited high points of that annual event.
Their program will include works by Bach, Brahms, Mendelssohn and Maurice Duruflé. This is the second program to be presented in the series "Music to Nurture the Soul" offered under the aegis of the St. Thomas Reformed Church. In keeping with the tradition of that church, there is no set admission fee. The public is most cordially invited to come, enjoy the music and give what they are able. The church is located at Bakery Square, Nye Gade at Crystal Gade.
