Here is a chronological log of the homicides recorded in 2005, with statistics broken down by island.

Date of death: Jan. 6
The bullet-ridden body of Jayder Chemont was found on the road leading to Mandahl Bay after residents in the area reported hearing gun shots. Police, as of Jan. 10, could not say where Chermont lived or how old he was and had no suspects or motive in the crime.

Date of death: Jan. 24/25
The body of 58-year-old Sandra Marshall was found Tuesday in the bushes off a road three-quarters of a mile north of Eulalie Rivera Elementary School in Estate Grove Place. Police have few details about the cause of death, but have deemed the death a homicide.

Date of death: Jan. 27
Lucien Felix, 60, was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head early in the morning under the balcony at 5 and 6 King Street in Frederiksted. Police reported that Felix was a homeless person, who frequently slept in the area where his body was found.

Date of death: Feb. 6
Jabari Stridiron, resident of Oswald Harris Court was shot to death in Savan somewhere in the vicinity of Palms Court Harbor View. Two others were also wounded in the incident – neither fatally.

Date of death: Feb. 11
David Lawrence, 24, was shot and killed on Feb. 11 near his home on Hill Street in Christiansted. The shooting, termed probably retaliatory in nature by the police department, took place just after 9 a.m. on Valentine Day Jump Up evening.

Date of death: Feb. 12
Valden Orlando Georges, 44, of Estate Smithfield was shot on Feb. 12 around 7:10 p.m. in Estate Glynn in the vicinity of a cock-fighting pit. Georges was leaving the pit on foot when the shots that killed him were fired from a passing vehicle.

Date of death: March 8
Khalid Antonia Gumbs, a 19-year-old Oswald Harris Court man, was shot in the face and several times about his body on Feb. 24. He was found on a street in Old Tutu. He was transported to the Roy L. Schneider Hospital where he was placed on life support. Gumbs died two weeks later.

Date of death: March 16
Anthony Marrero, 33, died March 16, a week after being shot several times near Plot 8 in Sion Farms. According to Sgt. Thomas Hannah, Marrero had been standing outside, when targeted by a gunman.

Date of Death: April 18
Police found 27-year-old Eddy Antonio Mazara, of the Dominican Republic, laying face down about 9:30 p.m. in Anna’s Retreat, after residents reported gunshots in the area. Mazara later died of his wounds at the Roy L. Schneider Hospital.

Date of Death: April 28
Jamall C. Richards, 22, of Bovoni, was shot and killed on Norre Gade while behind the wheel of his vehicle. The incident took place an hour and a half after the end of J’ouvert, very close to the location where the celebration ended. Richards was taken to Roy L. Schneider Hospital, but died before his arrival there, according to James McCall, assistant commissioner of the V.I. Police Department.

Date of Death: May 5
Eurie Joseph, 32, of Campo Rico, was shot at by two men while outside his home. Joseph ran inside and was pursued by the two men as they continued shooting. The shooters then fled in a car taken from the residence. According to Deputy Police Chief Herminio Velazquez, Joseph was pronounced dead at Juan F. Luis Hospital, but had already "succumbed to his wounds" by the time police found him.

Date of Death: May 7
Winston "Reds" Francis, 67, an Estate Profit businessman, was shot on May 5 by two men as they robbed him of a bag of money. The shooting took place outside the Sunny Isle Scotiabank, which Winston had just exited. According to Territorial Police Chief Novelle Francis Jr., Winston was taken to the Juan F. Luis Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for his wounds. After the surgery the man was listed in stable but serious condition. Winston died at the hospital.

Date of Death: May 25
Officers arriving at the scene found 36-year-old Edward Bezear lying face down in a pool of blood outside Building 53 at the Mutual Homes Housing Community. Bezear had been shot several times and died at the scene from his wounds. Police have no suspects in custody and no motive in the shooting, but said they had received vague information about individuals fleeing the scene of the crime.

Uclid Smith, 47, died at the Roy L. Schneider Hospital three hours after he was stabbed several times during a fight between himself and several other men. Smith’s uncle was also injured in the fracas.

Linroy A. Benjamin, 29, an Estate St. John resident, was found lying face down next to a trailer home where he resided. The police report stated he had sustained multiple bullet wounds and had succumbed to his injuries.

Tristan A. Charlier, 24, of New York City was found fatally wounded along with his friend, Leon H. Roberts, at the bus stop on Veterans Drive across the street from the Frenchtown Post Office, known formally as the Arturo Watlington Post Office. Charlier was on St. Thomas to attend a wedding. An autopsy report said Charlier died of gunshot wounds. Police had no suspects or motive at the time of the incident.

Date of Death: June 15
Leon H. Roberts, 25, of New York City was found fatally wounded along with his friend, Tristan A. Edbert Emanuel Stewart, 63, owner of Manno’s restaurant – a popular spot for Police personnel – was found at his home, lying in a pool of blood. He died of severe multiple stab wounds.

In a "domestic incident" police charged Steven Matta, a 45-year-old resident of Mon Bijou, with involuntary manslaughter after Aurelia Torres of Estate Whim died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen received on June 19.

Dion Williams, said to be in his 30s, was gunned down by two men in Catherine’s rest as he was sitting under a tree with a third individual. Williams, of Estate Two Williams, was "not unknown to police," according to Novelle Francis Jr., territorial police chief. Reports at the time of the killing indicated Williams was part of a crime ring known as "the commission."

Date of Death: July 16
Kemil T. Ventura was killed in a spray of gunfire as he sat on a wall in front of the Stop ‘n Go service station in Frenchtown. The gas station sits adjacent to the Addelita Cancryn Junior High School. Territorial Police Chief Novelle Francis Jr. said an argument that took place at a high school basketball game earlier in the evening was a possible motive for the slaying. Eyewitnesses said three gunmen came across the highway on foot from Western Cemetery No. 3 and sprayed the parking lot with automatic gunfire, striking two individuals. The other person’s injuries were not life threatening. The name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Gloria Gottlieb, 49, of Estate Nazareth, was found in a pool of dried blood. She had died of a single gunshot wound to the back of the head. Police quickly arrested Mitchell Nicholas and charged him with first degree murder. Nicholas had allegedly threatened to kill Gottlieb on more than one occasion. She had recently asked him to move out of her home. Her 7-year-old-son was placed with relatives.

Date of Death: Aug. 2
On the evening of Aug. 2, 53-year-old Lloyd Noorhassan was found dead at an abandoned car wash in the vicinity of Sunny Isle plaza. Police originally thought the man had died of natural causes. However, after an autopsy on Aug. 4, the police classified it as a homicide.

Date of Death: Aug. 3
Police reported no arrests in the Aug. 3 fatal shooting in Smith Bay. The shooting occurred around 5:30 a.m. near Lake’s Chicken Fry, a stone’s throw away from where another shooting injured four people a week and a half previous. Alan Robert Lee died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Date of Death: Aug. 6
Police responded to a call at 5:09 a.m. regarding a shooting in La Grand Princesse near the 2+2 nightclub. Police found two men in the area who had been shot. Samuel Rodriguez, 22, a resident of Estate Paradise, was pronounced dead at 8:15 a.m. by an emergency room physician. The second victim — 23-year-old Phillmore Isaac, a resident of Paradise, survived.
Hillary Taylor, a resident of Estate Barren Spot, Christiansted, was arrested on murder first degree charge.

Date of Death: Aug. 23
Francisco Stevens, 27, was found fatally wounded at the intersection of Habbets Gade and Kronprindsens Gade a few feet away from an establishment known commonly as Fireman’s Bar. Police have no motive or suspects in the case. Stevens died at the Schneider Medical Center of multiple gunshot wounds.

Date of Death: Aug. 24
Gabriel Albert, 44, was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head about 10:30 p.m. near No. 830 Williams Delight. Albert had allegedly been visiting a friend when he was shot and killed by an unknown individual. Police had no suspects or motives at the time of Albert’s death.

Date of Death: Aug. 25
The body of an unidentified white male between the ages of 40-50 was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds at 12:45 p.m. No. 242 Estate Contant. Police had no weapon, suspect or motive in the killing.

Date of Death: Sept. 3
Angel Bermudez Delgado, 18, of Estate Carlton was shot and killed in an attack at the Amigos Service Station in Estate Campo Rico. A second man was wounded in the attack. Delgado was dead by the time police arrived in response to reports of gun shots in the area. Police were following leads immediately after the incident.

Date of Death: Sept. 10
Marcelino Rivera, 39, a resident of Estate Profit died of a single gunshot wound to his body. He and Daisy Rodriguez, 40, were shot as they reportedly slept in a tent at No. 30 Estate Profit. Rodriguez was said to be in serious condition shortly after the incident.

Date of Death: Sept. 12
Jahleel Halliday, 19, of Contant was stabbed to death at the Footlocker sportswear store at Lockhart Gardens mall. The incident took place around 2 p.m. Three days later police arrested 18-year-old Kareem J. Brown, of Oswald Harris Court, in connection with the stabbing.

Date of Death: Sept. 17
James Ballantine, 24, of 135 Estate Catherine’s Rest was shot and killed as he walked toward his home. The police had no motive for the killing at the time. The assailants escaped from the scene on foot.

Kevin Walker, 24, a native of Antigua, was found dead at about 8 p.m. in front of his residence on Levkoi Strade in Savan. A second man, Iba Matthew, was also shot in the incident. Police were holding a suspect, Daryl Blyden, 43, of Vester Gade, in connection with the shootings.

Date of Death: Oct. 2
Officers responded to a report of gunshots at about 11:30 p.m. Friday at the D. Hamilton Jackson Housing Community. Officers found a 16-year-old boy laying face down with several apparent gunshot wounds. He was later identified as Kareem Crump, a resident of Estate Richmond, and pronounced dead at the hospital. There have been no arrests in this incident, but an active investigation is being conducted.

Date of Death: Oct. 3
About 1 a.m. officers responded to reports concerning an altercation at Bongo’s Bar on Company Street in Christiansted.
Officers found that Alan Reid, 50, had suffered severe trauma to his face. He was taken to Juan Luis Hospital and pronounced dead. James Carlock, 30, was later arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter.

Date of Death: Oct. 29
The body of David Geiger burned beyond recognition was found at his Grunwald home after a fire was reported at the residence. An autopsy revealed he died of blunt force head trauma.
He was 44. His son Nathan was also seriously injured in the incident.

Janus Browne, 18, was shot and killed as he slept in his vehicle in Estate Tutu. Another 17-year-old man, also asleep in the vehicle, was shot, but not seriously injured in the same incident.

Steve Hart, 30, a resident of the Marley housing community, was shot to death as he sat with other individuals near the Campo Rico shanty, according to Deputy Police Chief Herminio Velazquez speculated that Hart and several other people were cooking in the shanty and after the shooting, the other persons left the area hurriedly.

Miguel Ayala, 24, of Watergut Homes, was found shot to death at the Estate Diamond Ruby shopping center early Thanksgiving morning. Police reported that he died of one shot to the face and that it might have been a retaliatory act.

Dennis Edwards was found dead, riddled with bullets – particularly to the face – near the corner of Crystal Gade and Nye Gade. Police had no suspects, no motive and had not recovered the weapon or weapons used in the killing.

Alvin Dubois was fatally wounded in an apparent robbery attempt at his jewelry store in Contentment, west of Christiansted town.
