Jan. 20, 2005 – The St. Croix Landmarks Society's Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Sarah Brown, Ph.D., as the Executive Director of the Society. She will take over management of the Society's three museums and other programs on Tuesday January 18, 2005.
Dr. Brown comes to us from Atlanta and Savannah Georgia where she has been running her own heritage consultancy. Previously, she was the Executive Director of the Andrew Low House in Savannah. Prior to her work in Georgia she as the Executive Director of the Landmarks Trust of Greater Little Rock, Arkansas.
Dr. Brown has published extensively. Her forthcoming book, "American Tourists' Narratives of the Caribbean, 1839-1939: Tourist and Cultural Encounter" (Preager Press 2005) is based on her dissertation at George Washington University. She has worked with the Barbados National Trust and consulted with the Cayman Islands National Archives.
Dr. Brown brings a wealth of modern museum experience and professional standards to our island. I am sure everyone will welcome her to the island and our community.
