African Association Sets First Award Gala

The African Association of St. Thomas-St. John will present its first African Humanitarian Awards Feb. 19 at an Award Gala on St. Thomas. Honorees include keynote speaker Ugandan's Ambassador to the United States Edith Ssempala, two University of the Virgin Islands professors, and two V.I. residents, a monsignor and a neurologist. The 7 to 11 p.m. event will include a sumptuous international buffet featuring African cuisine, an African fashion show, and music headlined by V.I. vocalist Lorna Freeman. The public is invited.
