Churches Come Together to Celebrate Good Friday

0

March 25, 2005 – All the seats were filled in Island Center Amphitheater and there was a thick crowd of people standing on the hill Good Friday evening. The parking lot was full and cars were parked up and down the nearby streets.
Around six hundred residents were participating in the St. Croix inter-island service titled "It Is All About You Jesus" and presented by Shine the Light Ministries.
The program started about a half hour late, but that seemed to focus the energy of the crowd.
Mistress of Ceremonies Claudia Walker said the event was not about "spectating, but participating."
The crowd seemed to agree with her as it threw itself into performances from various worship teams from island churches.
Participating were the New Testament Church, the St. Croix Christian Church, the Holy Ghost Deliverance Ministry, the Wesleyan Holiness Church and the Shenikan Dancers.
The introduction and the invocation of the event was done by Pastor Foster B. Barriero.
This was the first night of a Shine the Light Ministry Easter weekend. This event was free, but the family fun night set for Easter Monday will cost $10 at the door or $5 in advance. It is being held at the Agriculture Fair Grounds.
The DJ for that event is Wayne Papilo Abramson. Doing the V.I. anthem will be Col. Eddy Charles. Other entertainment includes the Ricardo Richard Steel Orchestra, Papa San of Jamaica, and Aetos of Dominica.
The event starts at 10 a.m. and last till 6 p.m.
