CFVI Environmental Studies Grant

April 6, 2005 – Virgin Islanders working on environmental issues that extend beyond the territory's waters to other areas in the Eastern Caribbean may qualify for a grant made possible by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands.
CFVI, through the Judith A. Towle Environmental Studies Fund, has money for studies and activities that "transcend the boundaries of any single island or island state, particularly in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and in the dual-island state of St. Kitts and Nevis," according to a CFVI release.
The fund was established at CFVI in recognition of the work, interests and commitment of Judith Ann Towle in increasing environmental awareness in the Eastern Caribbean. Initial funding for the fund came from the private, U.S.-based philanthropic foundation, the Mukti Fund, where Judith Towle once served on the board of trustees.
The CFVI release indicates that "one or more grants will be made annually, not to exceed a total of $3,500 in any single year.
