Young Calypsonians Heard Loud and Clear

April 20, 2005 — Youthful voices reigned at Lionel Roberts Stadium Tuesday night in the Junior Calypso Monarch Competition.
Twelve young and possible future Calypsonians belted out song after song vying for a title in one of three divisions: Primary, Intermediate and Secondary.
Jalen "King Yellowman" Fredericks, singing "Ah Simple Calypso," won the Primary division. He attends J. Antonio Jarvis Elementary School. Khalia "Princess Mama" Baptiste, also of Jarvis, was first runner-up
Shiryra "Lady Presey" Crabb, singing "Don't Stop Deh Carnival," took the Intermediate division.
She attends Dober Elementary School. Shaasia "Lady ShaSha" Bachelor, of Jarvis was first runner-up.
Shamelle "Princess Lyrics" Farrington, won the Secondary division and her fourth title singing "Keep Carnival Alive." She attends Addelita Cancryn Junior High School. There was no runner-up in this division.
Also competing were Kijana "King Kijana" James, Maurice "King Maurice" Hansby, Ivorie "Princess Ivorie" Creque, Ali "Blazing Ali" Francis, Pezzia "Princess P" Whyte, Kyza "Kyza" Callwood, and Terano "Lord T" Morgan.
Irvin "Brownie" Brown hosted the event, which was sponsored by Coca Cola and Centennial Wireless. Joe Ramsey and the All Stars accompanied the young vocalists.
