May 19, 2005 — Phase one of the St. Thomas District Public School Registration nears completion, according to Registrar Claudette Hodge. Parents and guardians of children who seek to have their child enter public schools in the fall are advised that registration for this period ends on Wednesday, May 25. Registration for the 2005-2006 school year began on May 4. Registration for children residing on St. John will be held on Friday, June 3 at the Julius E. Sprauve School from 8:30 a.m. through 11:45 a.m.
Parents wishing to register their child must bring the child to be registered and the following documents: the child’s original birth certificate (U.S. citizens only), passport, resident card, naturalization certificate (non-citizens only), V.I. Immunization Card with clearance form attached, report card from previous schools, proof of parent's physical address (i.e. driver’s license, voter’s ID, cable TV bill, WAPA bill), and the child’s Social Security card.
Ms. Hodge further reminds parents that students will not be registered without the presentation of a V.I. Immunization Card with the attached clearance form issued at the immunization clinic at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital. Immunization clearance forms are a mandatory requirement of the registration process and no exceptions will be made. Parents are further reminded that students entering kindergarten must be five years of age on or before December 31, 2004.
