Elmo Plaskett Little League Wraps up Season

May 23, 2005 — The Elmo Plaskett Little League East concluded its regular season this past weekend with seven games.
Friday in the 11-12 year-old division, the Yankees snapped a five-game losing streak with the 10-7 win over the Suns. Mickey Garcia was the winning pitcher. Carlos Perez was the losing pitcher. The Yankees were led by Garcia (2-3, 2 RBI), Joshua Torres (2-2, 2 RBI) and Jonathan Gonzalez (2-2, 2 RBI). Leading the Suns were Najee Williams (3-3, RBI) and Clyde James (1-2, RBI).
In the 9-10 year-old division, Juan Moreau pitched a one hitter as the Yankees shutout the Suns 20-0. Jaheem Joseph suffered the loss. Moreau (3-4, 4 RBI), Jordan Scott (2-3, 5 RBI) and Denzel Carter (2-4, RBI) combined to drive in ten runs for the Yankees. Joseph got the Suns only hit.
Saturday started with a 5-6 year-old division game between the Suns and Toon Squad I. Akido Lindquist (4-4, HR, 3 RBI) and Neal Armstrong (4-4, 6 RBI) lead the Suns in the 25-16 win over Toon Squad I. Toon Squad was paced by Sequima Russell (3-3, HR, 3 RBI) and Shakima Roebuck (4-4, 2 RBI).
In the 7-8 year-old division, Wayne Scott Jr. pitched a one-hitter as the Lil Yankees easily topped the Suns 18-1. Shaquan Ferrol was the losing pitcher. Sergio Santiago (1-1, HR, 4 RBI) had a grand slam and D' ' Andre Simmonds (1-1, HR, 3 RBI) drove in three runs for the Lil Yankees II. Marquis Joseph (1-1, RBI) had the Suns only hit of the game.
In Saturday' s final, the Indians finished the season in the 11-12 year-old division with a perfect 11-0 record as they topped the Suns 15-5. Frank Wilson was the winning pitcher and Najee Williams was tagged with the loss. Leading the Indians were Mark Knight (2-4, RBI) and Williams Tutein (2-4, 2 RBI). The Suns were led by Kaleem Fleming (3-3, 2 RBI0) and Gabriel Delgado (1-2, RBI).
Sunday, Lil Yankees I captured first place in the 7-8 year-old division with the 9-1 win over the Mets. The winning pitcher was D' Andre Simmonds; the losing pitcher was Evanston Matthew Jr. Simmonds (2-2, HR, 4 RBI) and Romani Hansen (2-2, RBI) had the top bats for Lil Yankees I. Matthew (2-2, HR, RBI) homered in the losing cause.
In the 9-10 year-old division, Jordan Scott pitched a one hitter as the Yankees finished first place with a record of 10-1; they easily downed the Reds 21-4. Jordan Evans was the losing pitcher. The top hitters for the Yankees were Scott (2-3, 2 RBI), Juan Moreau (3-3, 5 RBI) and Eddie Calderon (3-4, 4 RBI). The top hitter for the Reds was Leonardo Castillo (1-2, RBI).
With the regular season over, up next is tournament play. The Elmo Plaskett Little League East All stars will face the EPLL West All stars for the St. Croix District Championship June 27-29. The winner will go on to host the St. Thomas Little League All stars for the Virgin Islands Championships August 6-7. That winner will represent the Virgin Islands in the 9-10 year-old division Caribbean Championships September 1-7 in Mexico.
