May 31, 2005 – American Cancer Society of St. Croix is having its 4th annual Relay for
Life Sept.3rd and 4th at the Education Complex Track.
Relay For Life is a overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
All the money raised at Relay will stay on St. Croix to help patients and survivors.
Relay teams are eight to 15 people and can be formed by businesses, organizations, groups, churches, friends, families; any group of at least eight can form a team. Large groups or businesses can have multiple teams under a larger group umbrella.
The Society will be holding a team captains meeting on June 8 at 6:15 p.m. at the St. Croix Rescue Training Academy, Five Corners (the former Garden Spot building). Those thinking about having a team or need more information should attend.
